COMMENTS ON ‘MOMENT OF CONTACT’ – a documentary on the Varginha Case in Brazil

Introduction

Moment of Contact is a documentary by James Fox investigating the 1996 Varginha, Brazil incident, where locals and officials reported a UFO crash and the capture of alien beings. It highlights eyewitness testimony—including a neurosurgeon’s account of a creature—and allegations of military cover-ups, often referred to as the “Roswell of Brazil”.

The Details

In 1996 citizens of Varginha, Brazil, reported seeing a cigar-shaped UFO crash and one or more strange creatures. A group of local girls ranging from 14 to 21 years-old, allegedly had a close encounter with a being about four feet tall, with brown oily skin, a large head and huge red eyes. It allegedly emitted a sulfurous smell. Varginha was immediately cordoned off by military and emergency response teams and two creatures were allegedly captured, a policeman unfortunately dying from an infection 26 days after handling one of the beings.

The documentary includes testimonies from medics who allegedly treated a creature and military officials involved in the retrieval process. This updated 2025 version includes accounts from a neurosurgeon at the Regional Hospital in Varginha who claims direct interaction with a captured entity.

The Evidence

All the evidence in the film is testimony only. There is no hard evidence of parts of the crashed vehicle or remains of the creatures. It is stated that a US team flew in and swiftly removed at least the body [or bodies] of the creature[s]. They, of course, were never seen again.

The witnesses in the documentary are eminently credible. It is unlikely after thirty years that the three girls would persist in untruths regarding visibly sighting a creature. Likewise, the other witnesses, including a neurosurgeon at the Regional Hospital in Varginha offer credible statements.

Opinion

First up, all credit to James Fox and his team on getting the witnesses to tell their tale on camera. None had anything to gain other than release of a psychological burden.

The description of the creature seen by the girls is interesting. It breathed our air and appeared to be suffering in the heat. Its eyes may have been under stress. Its demeanor was one of fear and it apparently mewled. This suggests to me that the creatures, should they exist, inhabit Earth, probably in a secretive underground location.

The fact that the USA team arrived so quickly suggests a prior agreement at high level to cater for such incidents.

Stretching a long bow, the creatures may even have been juveniles out for a ‘joy ride’. If so, let’s hope they are forgiven.
