OBSERVATIONS ON AI ATLAS

It would be fair to say that the encroachment of AI Atlas into our solar system has created quite a stir in certain circles, ranging from the pedantically scientific to outrageous and ill-informed click bait. One thing we do know at this stage is that the object behaves differently to the norm. But that is not surprising, as it comes from outside our sphere of normality, that is our solar system. Creation within another star system is bound to be anomalous when compared to our limited knowledge of even our own system.

3I/ATLAS is only the third object known to have entered our solar system from another planetary system — after the cigar-shaped space-rock ‘Ou-muamua, discovered passing through the solar system in Oct. 2017, and the first interstellar comet 2I/Borisov, spotted in our stellar backyard in August 2019. The brief presence of these bodies in the solar system offers a unique glimpse into the chemical makeup around other stars.

Some of the observed anomalies

The mysterious visitor’s trajectory falls within five degrees of the Earth’s path around the Sun, or the ecliptic plane. It also went close to Mars and Jupiter.
Astronomers have also observed 3I/ATLAS growing a second tail, which appears [or appeared] to point in the direction of the Sun.
It is extremely large – as large as Manhattan we are led to believe.
Scientists have found that 3I/ATLAS shows an “extreme abundance ratio” of nickel and iron in its gas plume, making it a major outlier when compared to other more familiar solar system comets. Some scientists are saying, “The presence of nickel and iron atoms in cometary coma is extremely puzzling.”
The mysterious object has also shown “extreme negative polarization,” making it a major outlier.
It had a blue colour at perihelion. As 3I/ATLAS approached its closest point to the Sun, or its perihelion, scientists observed a “rapid rise” in its brightness, appearing “distinctly bluer than the Sun”.

Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb has argued at length that 3I/ATLAS — the third-ever interstellar object ever detected, currently screaming through the solar system at incredible speed — could be an enormous alien spacecraft measuring miles across.

The fact that we cannot for certain say what it is as yet can be viewed as profoundly disturbing or somewhat exciting, depending where you stand on NHI [Non-Human Intelligence].

Extreme Views

There have been many podcasts, interviews, and videos [including fake videos] concerning what 3I Atlas could be, many of them stretching towards the incredulous. Alien connection theorist comments about 3I Atlas do nobody any favors when making unsubstantiated claims. It is fine to hypothesize, but they need to make clear that is what they are doing.

We do, after all, have enough to busy ourselves with on Earth with the numerous unexplained ‘drone’ sightings in our skies.

What is more concerning to me is that many ‘alien craft’ broadcasters assume that any NHI associated with 3I ATLAS will be aggressive. That should not be the supposition at all. Despite the countless UAP sightings we have on this planet, there have never been any acts of extreme aggression recorded. If they are here, they are here to observe and maybe one day in the future communicate – if it is deemed worthwhile and safe to do so.

If we were able to go back in time, and try to interact with neanderthals, would it work? Would we be prepared to learn neanderthal ways? Could we collaborate on joint projects? Would they be of any use to us? I think not. They would be interesting to study, though.

Put yourselves in alien shoes. True communication may be impossible on a level we can understand. Maybe we should just be thankful they have an interest in us, whatever the reason!
